American Music Awards 2013: The Winners Plus Taylor Swift Big Winner

Taylor Swift was the big winner at the 2013 American Music Awards. Swift won the artist of the year award for the third time, after victories in 2010 and 2011, and also picked up awards for favourite female country artist, favourite female pop/rock artist and favourite country album for Red. The winners are chosen by the American public, voting online and via Twitter.
Justin Timberlake also won three awards. The 20/20 Experience won best album, and Timberlake was also awarded favourite male artist in both the pop/rock and soul/R&B categories. One Direction won best album and best group.
Rihanna took home the first AMA Icon Award, which was presented to her by her mother, Monica Braithwaite. A video montage summarising the singer's achievements included praise from her mentor, Jay Z, and the artist Damien Hirst, who recently directed a cover shoot with Rihanna for British GQ.
