Ben Howard was a surprise winner, walking away with British Male and British Breakthrough.

And then came the surprise award, the BRIT for Global Success which OBVS went to One Direction who have had an insanely successful year, selling shed loads of records and achieving worldwide domination.

Emeli Sande also picked up two gongs. Copyright [Rex]One Direction according to Omg! were naturally over the moon with their award, and thanked their fans and families plus mentor Simon Cowell who made it to the awards to cheer the boys.

One Direction gave a brilliant performance of their new single, One Way or Another/Teenage Kicks.
